1,358 piles installed in 41 days on a remote mine site.

Screw piles in Melbourne, engineered and installed by FTA
What is a helical pile?
A helical pile is a steel shaft with one or more helix-shaped bearing plates, screwed directly into the ground rather than poured or driven. The helix bears on the soil the way a screw thread bears on timber, which is why the technology has held up in the ground since it was first used in the 1800s, long before “screw pile” was a modern buzzword.
The Helical Pile, by FTA, Installed across Melbourne since 2012
FTA is based in Victoria, and Melbourne is where our Helical Pile system was first installed and refined to Australian Standards. It remains the default technology for the widest range of soil conditions across the city and surrounding suburbs, particularly the lower-strength, less dense or fill soils common in Melbourne’s newer growth corridors.

Why it works
- Installed with verified torque on every pile — capacity confirmed as it goes in.
- No concrete, no curing wait, immediate load-bearing capacity.
- Fits residential, modular, commercial and infrastructure applications alike.
Where it’s used, locally
Homes, granny flats and lifestyle village developments across Melbourne, alongside modular classroom and commercial projects throughout Victoria.
Location coverage
