Helical Pile

Piling contractors in Brisbane, helical screw piles by FTA

What is a helical pile?

A helical pile is a steel shaft with one or more helix-shaped bearing plates, screwed directly into the ground rather than poured or driven into place. The helix bears on the soil the way a screw thread bears on timber, which is why the technology has held up in the ground since it was first used in the 1800s, long before “screw pile” was a modern buzzword.

The Helical Pile, by FTA, delivering across Brisbane and Queensland

FTA installs the Helical Pile across Brisbane and the wider Queensland market, using the same engineering standard we’ve applied in Victoria since 2012. It’s the default technology for the widest range of soil conditions, particularly lower-strength, less-dense, or fill soils where a shallower ground screw won’t achieve the required bearing capacity.

Why it works

  • Installed with verified torque on every pile — capacity confirmed as it goes in.
  • No concrete, no curing wait, immediate load-bearing capacity.
  • Fits residential, modular, commercial and infrastructure applications alike.

 Where it’s used, locally

Modular classroom and school builds, government housing programs and residential projects across Brisbane and regional Queensland.

Location coverage

Brisbane and surrounding South East Queensland.
